Before starting the workshop idea, I took permissions from the Head Mistress of St Angels English High School, Bangalore to do Python workshops in their premises.
I started the workshop at 9:30 am in the morning on 16th July 2016. There were six students in all, all boys. I could rent out only one laptop that I used for teaching the students.
I started the session by explaining the students the internals of a computer, the physical architecture, and the components assembled to make the computer the way it does. I briefly touched upon operating systems, front end, high level languages, and low level languages, just telling them what they needed to know before they could dive into Python programming.
After, I taught the following topics to the students:
1. Python shell interpreter, and running Python files
2. Basics of variables, and values
3. Difference between input and raw_input
4. Print statements
5. Numeric int, float, str
6. Conversions between int, float, str
7. Mathematical operations
8. String manipulations
1. Slicing strings and lists
While I taught, I displayed the actual working of these programs. I intend to continue the sessions further on similar lines.
